Why Are Ninth Graders in Middle School?
Dear Guidance Guy,
I don't understand something. How come if ninth grade is "high school" we (ninth graders) are still stuck in the juinor high school building?
Confused

Dear Confused,
Great question! It depends on a few things. Some people look at 13 - 15 year olds as closer to "kids" than "adults" and put them in with the younger students. Therefore, high school students in junior high schools. And sometimes it's a matter of space. Some high schools were built many years ago and don't have enough room for all four grades. Or the junior high schools have too much room for just seventh and eighth graders (or grades 6,7 and 8). So they put the ninth graders there as well.
No matter how or where they put you, you're getting older and closer to being an adult everyday. Enjoy it!
Your Pal,
