Will She Get Him Before I Do?
Dear Guidance Guy,
I have a huge crush on a boy, and I haven't told him yet. I am wondering if I should I tell him. Or will he think that I am a freak? I am worried if I don't tell him, this other girl who likes him will get to him first, because she is hitting on him all of the time! I think that he really likes me, but what if the other girl makes him like her? I really want him to like me, and I think he's really cute, but I don't know what to do! I really need help, should I tell him, if not, what should I do?
Sincerely,

Dear Need Answers,
I can feel the stress pouring out of your letter, and I can only imagine how much stress you're walking around with. I'm guessing the boy you like feels it too when he's near you.
Telling him you like him usually doesn't work. It makes the guy feel awkward, and even if he does like you, it's kind of difficult to go onto the next stage. The best relationships usually start out as friendships and happen over time. If you like him, try taking some of the pressure off yourself. Ask him if he wants to study with you, or go to the movies, or anything that's just plain fun.
And I wouldn't worry about another girl "making him" like her instead. He gets to make up his own mind about who he likes, just like you do. But it is interesting how people who go after what they want often get it, isn't it?
Best of Luck,
The Guidance Guy
