Trouble In Paradise
Dear Guidance Guy,
I really need you to answer this for me. You see, I really liked this guy and my friends and I went to this club thing after school where we can play games and kind of like have a party. So my friends were begging him to ask me out and I did not want them to beg him, just kind of give him the hint. The day before I was flirting and we were paired up for everything. My friends all told me it was fate. So the next day at the club program thing my friends were like “why don’t you ask him out?” Now I would never ask out a guy so finally he came over to me and I was sooooo excited. Then he told me that he just liked me as a friend. I was completely let down so I went home and cried for about an hour.
The next couple of days I was in a daze. Lately he has been ignoring me and being mean and being really immature and really annoying and he has flat out been kind of mean. So now what should I do? Dump him and move on? In a way I still have feelings. I'm so confused!

Dear Trouble,
Rule Number One in The Guidance Guy Book of Relationships: Going out is between two people, not a sport for your friends to participate in. Your mistake was getting your friends involved in this in the first place. I'm guessing this is one of your first times where you almost dated. The minute your friends got involved it wasn't about you liking him or him liking you. It became a "will he or won't he" game. And he probably got embarrassed and pulled back from you.
If you still have feeling for him you will have to start over again. It may be too late, seeing as how he isn't being nice to you. Maybe giving him some time will fix it. Just be yourself. Say hello when you see him and talk if he's willing to talk. But if he's mean to you, you don't need him. It's a good lesson for the next time a cute guy comes along. And no doubt that will be very soon.
