This Is A Friend?
Dear Guidance Guy,
I have a friend who's mad at me. I know that friends get mad at each other. Iit's all a part of friendship and whatever but she's mad at me over some stupid thing I said. I know that it was insensetive, but I didn't say it maliciously or anything, it's the kind of thing where you say it and then you think it and think "That's mean, don't say it!" at which point, it's too late.
I apologized to her, a few times mind you, but all the time she'd just really quietly say OK and leave. It's been like two or three months that she's been mad at me and I wouldn't want our friendship to end over something like that. She's also started being really.. kindergardeny about it. She'd have 'personalized greetings' for everyone, you know go around our group saying hi or bye to everyone but me.
It's getting really annoying, and I don't want our friendship to end over something so stupid. I kind of put up with it before, because it was a really dumb thing I said, but today she did it again and I just got SO mad, I don't even know why, it's like she just too far. I also think it might just be because she doesn't like me. Over the past year or so I've noticed that she doesn't really like me. That might just be me, but she didn't act as comfortable around me as she did with the rest of our friends. I'm just tired of it and want to know if she's ever going to get over it and how to be friends with her again or anything. Appreciate It,Tired Of It

Dear Tired,
It looks like she's been trying to find a way to stop being close with you for a while. You said you think it might just be because she doesn't like you. When you said the dumb thing to her, it was the perfect excuse to stop being nice to you.
This girl is sending you a clear signal...the friendship is over. You don't have to be enemies. You don't have to be anything. It might be time to put your energy into a new relationship. It's definitely not worth getting as upset and frustrated as you seem to be. Find someone who likes you and won't be so sensitive about one little thing - and treats you well. You deserve it.
All The Best,
The Guidance Guy
