Sixth Grade School Navigation
Dear Guidance Guy,
I am a new sixth grader at a new school. It's a really big school. I think I might have some trouble getting around. Another thing is that there is a girl that's at school. She has been a fickle friend for over three years. I want to be her friend but I don't want to get hurt again. What should I do?
Sincerely,
Someone with tons of problems

Dear Someone,
First things first. You don't have tons of problems, at least not the ones you're describing. You have ounces. In fact you have a great opportunity for new friends, learning great new stuff and starting the best part of your lfe.
OK, onto business. You will get lost the first few days, just like all the other new kids. By the end of two weeks (probably sooner) you'll be able to get around school with your eyes closed. Before long new kids will be moving into your school and YOU will be showing THEM around.
As for your fickle friend, be her friend for now, but don't get too close. No one can hurt you unless you let them. As she shows you she is not so fickle, you can get closer. If she shows you she isn't ready for a close friendship, you can still be friendly with her, but don't share all the close personal stuff.
Have an Awesome Year,
The Guidance Guy
