The Popular Kids Are Different, Right?
Dear Guidance Guy,
I am going into 7th grade and I have so many popular kids in my school. They think they are the best thing in the world! I dislike them so much. I am not nearly close to popular. What should I do with them and what will they become later on in life? Will they stay as beautiful and popular (and incredibly MEAN) as they are now?
Thank You!
Anna

Dear Anna,
You shouldn't do anything with (or to) them. Your one and only job this year is to focus on you.
Some popular kids are quite mean. They can tease less popular kids and even bully them sometimes. Some popular kids are incredibly nice, kind and funny - and that's why they are popular in the first place. Trying to put all the popular kids into one category isn't fair to them. You wouldn't want them making assumptions about you because of your status, right?
Here are the answers to your questions: some popular kids will become beautiful and popular adults. Some will go onto have ordinary lives. And some will become quite unhappy. The same thing is true for less popular people.
Try not to dislike them. If it makes you feel better, find one person who is popular and also nice. Figure out how he or she acts and see if it something you might like to try. Something tells me you're good enough already.
All The Best,
The Guidance Guy
